At Dr. Steve Jacobs, Optometrist, a leading optical and eye doctors’ office in Blacksburg, VA, we have established ourselves as a respected, progressive contact lens practice that takes pride in offering cutting edge technology.
Eye health matters. That is why we recommend either daily disposable or 1 month high oxygen permeable lenses for the vast majority of our patients.
Our eye doctors offer a wide selection of contact lenses – soft, rigid gas permeable and even hybrid – for near- and far-sightedness, multifocal and astigmatic needs, and for those who wish to change their eye color. No matter what you wear, we have lenses that can meet your needs.
A good contact lens fit starts with a thorough eye exam to ensure the most up-to-date prescription and rule out any pre-existing conditions that could interfere with contact lens wear.
Today’s Contact Lenses – Something for everyone.
Contact lenses have come a very long way, and like just about every other device, they’re constantly changing. As with phones, new technology has made contact lenses easier to use, more efficient, and more useful. Today’s standard lenses easily correct for astigmatism, allow many wearers to see well without bifocals, barely feel like anything is on the eye, and require no care or cleaning.
If your eyes are healthy and require a typical prescription, you probably can wear lenses on a full time basis, and all but certainly wear them successfully part time. The most amazing advances in technology, however, are when we work with patients whose eyes aren’t typical. Thanks to improvements in design, fabrication and evaluation, specialty contact lenses can enhance clarity and comfort for many people with eye surface diseases, those who have had an injury or surgery, or those who require a complex prescription. These lenses include custom designed soft lenses, soft-rigid hybrids, all manner of custom rigid lenses, and even very large rigid lenses; covering most of the front surface of the eye these provide excellent comfort and crisp vision when other lenses can’t.
We strive to maintain our skills and knowledge at the forefront of this exciting, challenging and rewarding area of care. Whatever your visual needs, if you aren’t seeing as well as you’d like with glasses, we want to work with you to help you see more clearly and comfortably. We like a challenge. We don’t always win, but we don’t give up easily. Give us a call, 540-953-0136.
